I just got a book, "Spam Kings" that has behind the scenes descriptions of the spammers and the anti-spammers.
Another good book put out by O'Reilly.
By doing some research on some things in the book I forgot how *little* I actually do bonafide "web surfing" anymore.
Mostly I stick to a few sites here and there.
I remember the prediction a ways back was that even though there might be millions of sites eventually the vast majority would end up being from established hubs or portals of a few well known sites. That's mostly become true. At least for my own browsing at least.
The surprising thing about reading this book is that it makes me feel like I'm missing out on making a ton of money.
Not with spam but with something. I forgot how revolutionary the internet seemed 10 years ago.
I think I'd like to make time just to figure out what's going on over the net lately. It's been really hectic the last few months, year.
Well, until I get my pad fully setup with something other than notebook only I'm going to lay low here for a while. I've been checking sg from work and it's starting to get in the way.
In the spirit of "spring cleaning" I'm going to prune a few people off my friend list that I've had limited interaction with or have gone gray, anon. Let me know if I pruned off a green branch.
