I have this new recurring dream where I think that there is a live electrical wire in my bed.
It's the kind of twilight dream where nightime reality slowly warps to quasi-dream where you wake up and it takes a few seconds to realize that no indeed there is not a live wire dangling from the ceiling.
This the kind of dream where I end up jumping up out of bed.
Last night I got to the kitchen with the bedspread wrapped around me when I figured out I was buggin.
Another variation on this is the kind of dream where there is something outside. I'll get up and look out the window.
At least part of this comes from the environment of living right next to a fairly busy street where the occasional partier or whatever is walking around in the pre-dawn hours.
One time I thought that a tow truck was going to tow my car away, but it was just the passing headlights of a car driving by.
I guess the major factor is anxiety.
The days anxiety settles and simmers during dream time and erupts in these sleep walking moments.
I've had this kind of anxiety sleep walking dream for quite a while. I remember when I first moved out of my parents house and I was living with roomates in Newport Beach. In one dream I felt like the house was underground buried and I had to get out the window. I woke up scrabbbling at the window at 3am and my roomates knew I was *interesting*.
Sometimes I've also gotten dreams where there is a spider, or small animal or something on or near the bed. Then I wake up freaked out, spring out of the bed.
So now the new one is electrical wires. In one dream for some reason there were metal plates in my mattress that would give me a shock so I had to watch out. In another one it was a live cable dangling over the bed.
Maybe it means I'm afraid of getting a shock.

Speaking of dreams I had a dream about my ex-girlfriend a few days ago.
In it things were shifting and changing but she was working at some kind of place which could alternately be an ice cream shop, car rental desk, or tattoo parlour.
I was watching her first. She looked kind of like she was about 40 and slightly overweight yet still appealing. This doesn't fit the reality timeline. She was working at a desk near something like a football field. I decided to help with her with some customers doing whatever. Somehow this evolved into her being impressed by me getting a sylvester and tweety bird tattoo.
Anyway when seeing her I felt ackward so I said basically I just wanted to see her one last time. Then we hugged and she asked if I had time to stay for a while. This surprised me so I thought about what to do.
Well, that dream is an improvement over the usual recurring dream with her. Those are the ones that fall into three categories: I'm trying to find her but can't; I'm with her for a while but then I lose her; or I find her but she blows me off.
Once again, who knows what it all means...

I've actually given up on it for now.
Each attempt took like 9 hours +. I gave up after the third try, and installed darwin instead, and then got bored of that and re-installed os x (I have jaguar)
I think my problem the third time of trying to install gentoo had to do with not choosing the right kernel modules for my ibook keyboard. I picked the ones they told me to and they don't work. anyway. I'm determined to install gentoo successfully, but I'm going to wait a week or two.
I have yellowdog(3.0) on my clamshell, and it's a lot more user friendly.
I'm putting debian on my pc. I had suse 7.2.
I've been reading up on the *bsds and thinking about trying one of them out on one of my herd.
anyway.
I'll be very happy when I defeat the gentoo istallation process...
