Well, my last journal entry had a record number of *four* comments, should I give that all up for a new entry?
Today was "Public transportation and leave work early to pick up your car" day. Sometimes I feel like life is an really long boring dream of driving back and forth to work alternating with time staring at some kind of screen. This was kind of nice break from that.
I read a cheesy book on the bus, "Zen and the Art of Motorcyle Maintenance". I got it out of curiousity since I had seen it around for so long. Normally I like to read books more from the source, not westernized new-agey shit. It's not what I normally read, but it was a change of pace.
Hey man, the theme of the day was "something different".
I woke up at 6am, did jack at work with no feeling of any pressure since it was already done finally. Then I left at 3:45pm. Normally I get to work around 10am and leave between 6:30 and 8pm.
Driving back home I went through some old parts of town near campus I hadn't seen in a few years. I went shopping in a different Ralphs than I normally go to. Observation: supermarkets near universities
are well stocked on beer. Normally I hate shopping for groceries, but tody in the spirit of "different" I took my time to inspect what this store had.
To top it all off I decided to talk to noone. Normally I always have this nagging feeling like I should call someone up, but I thought I should just be reclusive when I feel like it so I'll be more genuinely social when I feel like, rather than trying to force everything. Now I'm chilling on some kava kava/melatonin concoction which is strangely effective. It amazes me the shit that's legal and what's not.
Why can't this country loosen up and let people smoke all the weed they want. So what? We'd all be apathetic and relaxed and much happier. Productivity is down. Get on the hamster wheel beeyatch. It's the drunks, tweakers, junkies, and crackheads that screw it all up for everyone anyway. You know what people in Spain and Italy actually go out of their way to *enjoy* life. Midday siesta don't take work too seriously. Yeah they're not the economic superpower #1, military dominators of the world, but is that really where it's at?
I'm just kind of pondering blind greed and how modern life is like a frenzied weasel in a cage. At this moment my secret fantasy is to travel around like a vagrant and just smoke a lot of dope and wander around. Then I'll wake up on a beach in Thailand looking back on my previous life as a computer slave and say "what the hell was I thinking?".

Yeah that was more like a ridiculous fantasy kind of thing anyway.
I don't smoke pot except except maybe a few times a year now.
I recommend it *occasionally* to stir things up or chill out. Not a like a daily thing to escape and veg out on.
But I have been stoned out of my mind walking down a beach in thailand though, for reals. At night too. I have a lot of nervous energy.
