Okay, I just signed up for NaNoWriMo. Write a 50K word book in a month... sure.
I'll give it a shot. I'm not going to go too nuts over it since I have a new job to be starting and a test I'm studying for in December anyway.
I figure I'll spend a day or two on some kind of basic outline and just try and do free-form whatever to fill it all in.

Oh, you that 20 things list from last entry. I really focused on drugs, alcohol and illegal activity for some reason. Most likely I think that's because I'm going through a phase of dealing with that. That happend to be a slanted view. It applied more about 15 to 20 years ago. I'm revisiting the party attitude lately, so it's on my mind. My life seems to be pretty cyclical in a lot of ways.

Here an example of a couple of those "coincidence" events I mentioned:
I broke up a couple of months ago. I'm trying to reduce the number of phone calls I get from her so I turned off my phone for a few days.
The sunday before last I had this craving for a crispy noodle dish. So I go to a vietnamese place that I don't normally go to anymore. It happens that they have a selection of that kind, even though not all vietnamese places do.
So I eat my noodles, and look up and there's my ex who just sat down next to me.
This is ackward. So I ask her what's she doing and she tells me to erase all my message on my phone. The previous two nights she was freaking out sending about 20 text messages and calling dozens of times.
It happens that her friend who she was with wanted to go to this restaraunt. So it was the timing of these seemingly random impulses of two people with the same timing to have this meeting happen at an emotionally meangingful time.
So in my mind that's not a random coincidence. There was a need to meet and connect and so it happened. Simple as that. Why? How? I haven't the slightest.
Here's another.
I finally got a chance to rent Donnie Darko, which I had heard a lot of things about but hadn't seen.
I went to a party Saturday night and got home pretty drunk I smoked some pot to try and watch the video then (like an idiot), but passed out after 5 mintues.
So I wake up early Sunday morning after only about 4 hours sleep around 7am hungover and still a little stoned. I figure I'll watch the movie then.
Well first of all, the movie's about how the world is going to end on Oct 30, the day I was watching it. And this is all in a hungover, semi-stoned, time-zone befuddled state of mind. I enjoy these kind of "what the hell" moments. Mystery is my friend.
So the movie's about this teenager that's has either some kind of special power, or is just crazy. The climax happens right after a halloween party, which I had just been too also just like in the movie on a Saturday.
This all added to my "Whoah..." state of mind.
The other movie I got was I *heart* Huckabees, which was an existential comedy that dealt with the subject of coincidences and the nature of everything being connected. It wasn't at all what I expected, but it was pretty good. Interesting at least, and silly.
So anyway, on the "sychronicity" scale where 1 is "eh, whatever..." and 10 is stupendously unbelievable. I'd rate it like this:
seeing my ex unexpectedly: 7
seeing Donnie Darko on 10/30: 4
seeing a movie about coincidences: 2

good luck on your novel writing adventure, that sounds interesting...thanks for the TAG, I'll be posting it as soon as I stop avoiding the opportunity to sit down and think about myself...check this coincidence: I had just broken up with my ex-girlfriend a few months earlier and was on my way to a therapy apointment, going up the elevator to my psychiatrists office, probably to still talk about her and how she crushed my heart, when SHE walks in the elevator. I asked her what she was doing there and she said she WORKED in the building. I got off one floor below the top floor, so she worked one floor above where my psychiatrist's office was. of all the buildings in Los Angeles...
