so what i said I was going to do at bumbershoot, and what i actually did ended up being totally different. shocking!
friday:
didnt end up going at all. i slept in and then went to see the jet concert instead. then i went out to karaoke with *all* the seattle folk + visitors. it was great getting everyone in one place like that.
saturday:
went to breakfast, and it took forever, so we missed the catch and nancy sinatra. instead we went to flatstock to pick up my posters from lil_tuffy. wandered around for a long time, and wanted to buy *everything*.
went to kiki and herb, who were quite hilarious.
then we went over to pedro the lion. that man is like a song machine, he took no breaks, hardly any talking, just song after song after song. and he played all 4 of the ones i really wanted to hear, so i was very happy.
someone in line on the way in pointed at me and called me a freak with mental problems because of my arm piercings. that made me less happy. my boyfriend said i should be used to it, but i'm really not...
after that was robyn hitchcock. i honestly have no idea who this guy is, but it seems like everyone else did. this happens to me a lot. he was ok, but i bet i would have liked it more if i knew who he was, or what was going on. I ran out in the middle to get food, then came back and fell asleep.
afterward we went to the rosebud to meet up with my boyfriend's friends. that was not fun. they were all drunk already, and some of the boys were all pervy and gropey. ew.
sunday:
we went over to brad and amys for breakfast. this took a little longer then expected, so we missed popular shapes.
we did make it in time for hint hint. i think the lead singer was tweaking out on something, but it was still great. ran into my boyfriends exgirlfriend (not just a regular one, but the broke his heart, love of his life one), and talked to her for what seemed like hours. i was excruciatingly uncomfortable.
went to get orange julius, ran into mistersatan.
i kind of wanted to go back to emp for halou, but my footsies were too tired, so we went to see some comedy instead. the comedy was in way too small of a venue, brian and i were the absolute last people to get in and we didnt get to sit next to each other. it was ok. ran into dr_phibes.
i had planned on going to see the walkmen, but i wanted to watch some movies first, and they were so good i ended up staying for 3 hours. if youve never done it, go see movies at bumbershoot.
afterward we went back to brad and amys to watch the shining and drink beer. id never seen it before. scary. would have been scarier if i hadnt spent half my time poking brian to keep him from snoring.
monday:
stoped at louisas on eastlake for breakfast, had the best veggie sandwich ever. this was the only day we actually got to bumbershoot on time because we needed to get wristbands to see the pixies.
they were running this deal, where memberships to emp were 25% off during bumbershoot, so we bought one. then we discovered that we could get into the sky church through emp without standing in the 3 hour line. awesome. im doing this every year from now on.
went to see down pilot, then over to the exhibition center to see the fitness. that place has the worst sound ever. i couldnt hear the singer at all, so we left early to go back to emp to see the turn-ons. before bumbershoot id never seen a concert in emp, the sound is amazing, and they have a great huge screen for visuals.
we scurried out for food, and then back to emp to see harvey danger. they are one of my favorite bands, and i am so happy i got to see them.
after that we tried to go see the killers, but there was just no way we were getting in. the line was huge, and everyone was cutting and pushing. not worth it. i dont listen to the radio, so i really have no concept of what bands are popular and which arent. some of these lines really surprised me.
instead we went to look around at the literary and art exhibits. i wish we had more time there because a lot of it was really interesting. i wanted to buy one of these awesome purses by snap, but i didnt have enough cash. instead i bought a little pouch thing, that im going to sew straps onto, and make into a purse.
after that was memorial stadium, for built to spill and the pixies. we had great seats right in the frount. i dont think i would have made if i couldnt have sat down. ran into just about everyone. it was perfect.
so that was my weekend. longest journal entry ever.
