i really need a new thing to put my tv on. if only the furniture industry could come up with a standardized name for such a thing. so far credenza, media cabinet and sideboard seem to be equally popular, but unless you want to see a bunch of god awful early 90's style monstrosities *do not* google "entertainment center".
i need something with one shelf, slidey frount doors, no drawers and either no back or some kind of slidey back so all the cords can stick out and everything can get lots of air circulation. this does not exist. everything has a back and these weenie little holes you are supposed to thread cords through. these things are obviously designed for people with 2 or less electronic devices. at the moment i have 15 (tv, tivo, wii, wiimote charger, ps3, vudu, dvd, sonos, record player, airport extreme, nas, external hard drive, speakers, receiver, antenna), and that is just at the moment. i know i could just cut the back off, but it's sort of ridiculous to spend 5k on something and then have to saw it up.
and speaking of 5k... 5k!? really!?! not to sound braggie, but we have the money to really spend whatever, but it just seems wrong. like i could get something almost as good on craigslist for $300, but then it would only be almost as good, and then what's the point? i already have something almost as good for free. i'm kind of an all or nothing kind of girl. hence three years and still no living room curtains, but that is another post entirely.
this is the one i really want, but even it's not totally right, and yeah, 5k.
this one is ok too, but only has a door on one side and it looks really hefty. only 3k though!
and then there is
this one on craigslist. it's almost right, but there's little things that would bug me like the insides of the treads are unfinished and why does the top hang out so far? it's $4725 cheaper then that first one though... how much are finished treads really worth?
last issue, new furniture tips the balance of the house. the coffee table that is perfectly fine now, even classy in comparison to the current tv stand all of a sudden looks shitty next to the new fancy schmancy one. so then you gotta find a new one of those and then it doesn't match the rug and then... uggg.
no advice required. really this is all just stream of consciousness late night blah blah. the only real solution is move into a new place, with no stuff, and then buy everything all at once to fit. otherwise no matter what you do it just ends up looking shoehorned in. not possible, of course.
I also went to the 5 Spot on Sunday with Arcade Fire Girl. See, we woke up and she said that she should probably leave in an hour. So I said that if she didn't have anywhere she had to be then I would take her to breakfast. Such the gentleman.
So yah, 3 times in 5 days. But on Wednesday I only had mojitos!
