So I had a Grand Time yesterday. First I met up with twpsin and went cookbook shopping at Barbra Jo's Books for Cooks, the best Cookbook store in vancouver. The mission there was to buy The El Bulli Cookbook. What I didnt know was there was 2 El Bulli books 1994-1997 and 1998-2002 each of them cost $295cnd and my mouth droped at the price
I cant remember the book twpsin got but I ended up compeleting my Charlie Trotter colection by getting "Meat and game" and "Desserts" which came to $180cnd afterwards we ended up window shopping in Yaletown and showing twpsin places to applyto for work.
After dropping my new friend off in gas town I went to Wild rice and had some dinner before going to the Giants hockey game. The food sucked ass which is odd for the place and I contribute it to a off day for the chef.
Now the GRANDDESS part the hockey game I was invited too was hosted by my Albion rep Sue, when to her house and the first chef I met was Frdric Couton the chef at the Cannery seafood house. Fantastic guy, told him about my situation and he told me I have the drive but if I want to be a strong chef I need a diffrent situation. He gave me some grand advice and off to the game we went.
Giants Won 4-1 and we were behind the Giants bench and almost got hit by a puck!! COOOOOL. Sue got me a hat and after the game we went back to her house for drinks and cheese.
I can honestly say I have never been in a room with 4 other chefs and just shoot the shit about work and I got to do that for 3-4 hours till about 1am just GOOOD TIMES!

and thank you for making me apply to the cannery. i emailed them a resume, and took them one (with the adjustments you suggested)...chef frederic is on vacation, so he'll get it on wednesday.
i also took one to brioche, and to yaletown brewery (the sous chef used to work at steamworks, so he understood...).
*fingers crossed*
