Definatly time to update!
So I have been finished for the summer for about 2 months now, which sucks, because I totally miss Liverpool. I do have a lot of things planned for the summer though, which is awsome, but the days that I'm not working or doing anything feel like a million years, and I'm stuck in limbo. Urgh.
To pass the time I have been reading, a lot! I have a huuuuge pile of books to get through!
One of the books was
Battle Royale by Koushun Takami.
The book kicks the film's ASS!
Firstly, they changed loads of things unneccisarily! Secondly, the book is WAYYYY more gory, and I like me some gore! Thirdly, you get sooo much more from the book than you do the film. If I hadn't have read the book before I watched the film, I would have NO clue what was going on!
Eg, Mitsuko
You get the point that she's a bitch in the film and just runs around killing people, but you don't get that it's because she was repeatedly raped when she was 9 years old! I think it's those things that make the story so engaging!
Anyways, I polished that and Everything is Illuminated in like a week.
Everything is Illuminated
By the way is one of the most amazing books I have ever read! You know those books that just open your mind and change your life forever? I love it, and I'm so glad it came into my life! Very inttelligent, witty, funny, tragic...everything rolled into one, and with inspiring mastery and command of the english language!
There is a film in it, with Elija Wood and Eugene Hutz (who is the lead singer of GoGo Bordello if you didn't know), which is very very good. But again, doesnt quite go into the same detail as the book. Though this book has so much in it I totally understand!
It's so funny and so sad and has the most fantastic Eastern Europeon folk music sound track in the world! Totes reccomend it!
I'm now reading Brick Lane. This book also has a film, which I have seen and didnt think too much of to be honest. But the book has been raved about so I thought I would give it a go, and it seems to be a lot better than the film so far!
Anyway, hope anyone who's reading's summer is going smoothly thus far, and my ranting on about books hasnt been too much of a bore
xx
