I had a pretty pleasent week this week...
Courtney came up again for 4 days. The first day we went to the American Diner with Lucy - and ordered possibly the most ridiculous ammount of food imaginable....
It was sooo good, their milkshakes are amazing.
I did that gig review for gigjunkie.net - and went to the Hoosiers. I met some pretty lovely people who where flyering too - which made it pretty fun. The gig was better than I expected it to be - with a really ace set design, and the guys live voice was pretty stunning.
Me Courtney and Zuz went to Sefton Park on one of the days - looking for conkers - but apparantly we missed the season or something...but we had a good time anyway - shuffling through the leaves, going to the play park etc. At the play park, however, we where verbaly abused by a bunch of kids between the ages of 11 and 13. Apparantly it was their fucking park and we were'nt allowed in thier fucking park because we where fucking dickheads. or something like that.
On the wednesday night me and courtney went to Zuz's for tea. I managed to consume like 2 relentless cans - and had the biggest high in the world. those things should really have a higher age restriction...or possibly be illigal. I had heart palpatations and twitched....it was like being on drugs.
I also had a severe come down from it too....not. good.
this is a picture of Lucy and myself doing Cat's cradle. I forgot how awsome it is to do.
Today, in our Tate lectures someone did a presentation on the Andy Warhole self portrait in the gallery - so we where all stood round the photograph as we do every week. We're pretty used to the general public listening into our presentations...but we haven't had anybody join in before. Today, Emma (our lecturer) asked if anybody had anything else to add to our discussion, and a little girl chirped in "Is he a goth!?". I thought this was particarly amusing - since Emma is the sweetest lady in the world and nodded, in her very peaceful way, saying to the girl that she understood why she would think that. I love Emma. she is so adorable and she just makes you feel like you have something valid to say all the time.
I did my presentation 2 weeks ago. I did it on David Altmejd's "The holes". I hadn't previously known the artist, but learning about his work has made me a new fan
It's such a cool piece - and all of his work is of simmilar fairy tale-esque themes. It's so fun, and kind of challenges the viewer's perception of what sculpture is - and kind of adds to the debate of when sculpture becomes instilation.
It's such a beatiful piece - and I absolutely love the Bienniel in Liverpool at the moment. The bienniel "made up" - is all about artists kind of going back to fairy tales and imagination and stuff - and wev seen some really amazing pieces over the course of the festival. There was the giant mechanical spider from "la machine" - which was 50 foot and walked the streets of Liverpool for a few days, then there was a giant spider web strung between a few buildings...its so much fun and kind of forces you to remember the fun and fantastical side of life we kind of forget when we get a bit older.
anyways - enough arty bollocks from me.
My brother is coming to stay tommorow night. We're doing pumpkin carving in our flat, and I'm making sweet pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup and corn on the cob - and wer watching some scary movies to get ourselves in the mood for Friday night.
