It was my bosses leaving party yesterday. She has a new job, which I'm very sad about. She was a great boss, I learned a lot from her and I'm sure I would have continued to.
As a manager and working in the company so long, she was aloud a certain amount of cash for her leaving party. She decided to invite a bunch of indirect collegues etc for the formality to a few drink and nibbles. Direct collgues and friends were then invited to a meal afterwards too.
We arrived at the bar/restaurant at 16:00 to get some stuff organized, guests would be arriving at 16:30. People started arrivijng, the drinks were flowing...but no nibbles. We asked for the (delicious) food about 6 times and we finally got the 2 plates of mixed nibbles ar 17:15 when the drink was over at 17:30. That was the first grievance.
Most people left and then some new came for the dinner. Which was to start at 18:00. We were slightly delayed through the nibbles coming so late, so I think we finally sat down to eat at 18:15. Orders were taken (we had a select choice of 2 starters, 1 fish or 1 meat dish and no choice of pudding-this was set.) Great, food around us looked yummy and smelled great
19:00 no food.
19:15 we asked why it was taking so long for 15 salads/soups. We had orderd an hour ago.
-the order hadn;t reached the cook. We had an overview of the kitchen and they were arguing..how could such a large group order be missed. Anyway, none of us are impatient or people to hold a grudge so we ate our salads/soups which came about 10 min later with many appologies!
20:00 no main course
20:15 no main course
20:30 no main course
The overview of the kitchen also showed us they were not making 15 plates of identical fish or meat dishes either...something was not well....
So we asked again and... again the arguing in the kitchen started,,,,how could such an order be missed...twice. nobody had seen it, the waitress was almost in tears, poor girl, and the headchef was furious. I loved him, a big hispanic guy and the looks he was giving people was priceless
Anway, quickly we saw identical plates being served up and around 21:00 we had our maincourse. By this time some of the people at our table were getting inpatient. My boss and her partner were getting disspointed too and imbaressed towards their guests. I was drinking beer (i'm a homer s I'm afraid) but most were dirnking dry white wine or read, so the restaurant decided to give us 2 bottles on the house to make a meands. The red bottle that came was fine....but the white ...European wine drinkers will know lambrusco as being cheap white, sweet, lightly sparkling junk with a srewcap so usually drunk by teenagers with no cash or taste. You can't put that on a table where so much has gone wrong and where everyone's drinking dry white wine. So at this point my collegue Sandra was in for a fight and complained about the wine. The main course was tasteless, thrown together in haste, some of the things on the plate didn't correspond with the actual menu....many people really didn;t like it or eat it.
So then once we had finished it was 21:45. We started giving our boss her going away gifts. And I ran to the distraught waitress to ask if she would come and take our orders of coffee/tea so we could enjoy it with our dessert. She took our orders...coffee came ...but no dessert...haha, un believable. SO again we waited, the restaurant was so hot too, so we stood outside in turns cooling off...at which point we saw a notice hanging outdoors saying "responsible cooks needed" haha, I cracked up!
Anyway...some people lieft they couldn't wait for the dessert which was a shame. At this point it was almost 23:00. We had been there since 16:00!!!!
Anyway the bill came...it was wrong.....we asked everybody to leave accept me and my collegue.
We asked to speak to the manager and we told her very politely what had happend this whole evening. On the bill was also the 2 complimentary bottles of wine...excuse me...what word of complimentary didn't they understand....they had charged 70,- worth of drinks that we hadn't had...and on top of the terrible service we wanted to see a better price. In the end we payed 150,- euro's less on a 600,- bill. Which was reasonable.
Today I eat pancakes with Lavender and rokko. Can' wait to meet these girls...hope the service is a little better
Fucking worst picture of me ever. Some people like surprising me..catching me off guard on pics.... WHY people WHY! But anyway a great hair day...and I'm big hearted enough to share
