Hey folks. I'm going to make a blue and white striped mask, don a zoot suit, cape, and fedora, then fight crime as 'The Pinstripe. Alternate names include 'The Stripe', 'The Skunk', and 'Contrasting Horizontal Band Boy'.
Secondly, I think it would be funny to make luchadore masks for all the SG Burlesque girls to be given them when they pass through the Twin Cites. These masks could have simply the 'SG' logo blazed on them, or a custom scheme tailored to each girl and possibly based on one of her sets.
I've been reading the Arabian Nights. The stories are pretty good if you're a fan of very old sorts of stories. I'm happy to have read the original (translated) story of the Seven Voyages of Sindbad. I also know now the origins of the City of Brass. Sooner or later I'll get into Alaedin and Ali Baba, then work my way through the lesser known stories. Good stuff. The stories have more magic and Jinni and Janni and Ifrits than most modern fantasy fiction.
I think it's notable that older stories don't give much credence to play balance. Sindbad is wrecked and miraculously survives seven times. Solomon commands unstoppable armies of Djinni and can command the beasts and the birds and the serpents of the earth in battle. Another interesting thing is that when the hero is confronted by a gigantic monster of one sort or another it is entirely acceptable for him to cry out and prostrate himself and offer prayer to Allah in hope of rescue because there is surely no hope of survival except by the intercession of Allah. There isn't nearly as much of 'Bravery', that is standing against suicidal odds and overcoming because it would be inconvenient to the plot if one did not.
Also, if you were to tally the treasure from any two stories you could construct a new moon of gold and jewels and sandalwood, then use a magic ring by which are bound a platoon of Jinn and order them to fly it aloft and set it in the heavens.
Finally there is quite a lot of drinking of wine and such for a culture that theoretically bans alcohol.
Other news. The jersey shore is fun, but not that much fun, and I still haven't figured out how to 'make friends' with total strangers in foreign lands. Maybe I'll get it some day. Who knows.
As of now it's up in the air whether I'll be attending school this fall. My father is strongly encouraging me to take a few months off, see a head shrinker, sort out my head a bit. practically I am inclined to agree with him, as much as I dislike the idea of skipping a semester. But what the hell, you know? Life is short but I am young and don't realize it yet. Plenty of time left to figure things out.
Another big life thing is my Fraternity. For whatever reason, and I really don't know quite what it is, I want to stick with them and try to make the Fraternity, or at least my chapter, into something that is worth all the time and effort it takes to keep together.
Heading back to Philly. I hope you all have a wonderful day and a good nights sleep. Farewell!

I like the caped crusader idea. I especially love the SG Lucha idea for the burlesque show - but we'd have to hurry (decide on a design, get funding and someone like you are better to actually make the masks)! 2 months goes by very fast in my little world.
What is the time frame that the old stories you are reading, as in do you know when they were first written? Allah is a name older than spit, but Muhammed used the name in 600 A.D. to describe the christian/judean god and to help in converting the non-muslim people into the tight-knit group. If stories like the Tale of the Roc are older than 600 A.D., then you may notice the reason why people were drinking. It is Islam that forbids drinking, not their culture.
While I have no formal training, I'd be willing to claim that I am a psychiatrist and take your dad's money... and actually sit and discuss your mind wanderings with you. In junior high school the class bullies would constantly consult me with their personal issues, asking my advice regarding their girlfriends, etc. (I had not even talked to a girl at that time let alone date one yet) and I'd give them advice that worked. So I think I've got a little experience, plus I've seen psychiatrists/psychologists before and there really isn't much to it... its mostly finding someone that you pay to listen to you that isn't going to blab everything to anyone else. I can do that. I do that every day. I rarely talk about anyone else, and then its only how their experiences relate to me. I never really state who I'm talking about.
they spend their few months away, realize how entirely shitty Hamline actually is, and are gone forever, leaving the rest of us suckers in the dust. and if you leave, it's pretty much certain that the only people left on campus will be total douches who don't know a good manifesto of ancient-apocalyptic-communist-zombie-ninja-art when they see one.
but hey, whatever.
