The Pursuit of Happiness (not the overacted Will Smith kind)
I have a friend by the name of Joy. Trust me she lives up to her name. She is one of the happiest people I have ever met. Always in a good mood. Always friendly to everyone. I asked her once how she does it. She told me once she does not look at herself as happy. She states she likes to think of herself as content with moments of happiness mixed in. That stuck with me for well over ten years (which is a feat unto itself, I can barely remember last weekend).
Going from that Denis Leary said Happiness comes in small increments...The five second orgasm...the chocolate cookie...etc.
I got to making a list of my personal moments of happiness so I thought I would share.
1. A child's smile. I do not care who the child is but there is something about an innocent creature smiling and being friendly.
2. Receiving hand written letters from friends. Since this is such a dying form, I love and keep every letter I receive. (Except those "dear John" ones.)
3. A visit from Brian (my best friend of 20+ years) and his family.
4. The muffled screams of the soon to be dead prostitute in the trunk of my car. Um... I mean... er... NEXT!!!!
5. Achieving something very few have (My black belt).
6. A novel with a satisfying ending.
7. Good times with good friends.
8. The satisfying chuckle of a well timed joke.
9. The uncomfortable shifting when a joke goes horribly wrong.
10. The warmth of the bed when you wake up on your day off.
11. The chilly night air on a spring or evening.
12. The unconditional love of an animal.
13. Since it is Friday the 13th I will end on this last one...Killing zombies. I am off to play Resident Evil 5.

I like to find happy in all the little things too
