I was watching the film "Coach Carter" last night, and heard this quote:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our dark that most frightens us.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't feel insecure around you.We are all meant to shine as children do."
~ Marianne Williamson
It's truly a rare occurrence that something you hear stops you dead in your tracks leaving you frozen in place just staring blankly off into space, staring at nothing at all because you're mind is too busy trying to wrap itself around the fact that someone actually *gets* it. All those times you've tried to explain yourself to friends, family, strangers...only to receive that polite, contrived nod of understanding. A nod which does little to belie the fact that they couldn't relate to your position less. And then to be blind-sided by a film about high school basketball players... Let me tell you all, it was a moment of clarity and it gives me resolve.
The others are not pleased, which is pleasurable immeasurable.
