Went to the Colorado Beer Festival last night. It was a blast. 1300 vendors, bars, microbreweries and pubs from all over the country were represented. I had about 50 1oz. tasters and my favorites were a Bourbon Imperial Stout from some place in the northeast and a chili beer from a Texas pub.

He found that he was for the first time, perhaps in his life, suddenly and utterly frightened of himself. Or was it frightened *for* himself? 'A slip into insanity cannot be this gentle,' he thought.
Such betrayal of the mind cannot go unnoticed indefinitely, and all those days and months of pretense and resolute denial had finally taken him to a place...

Sounds like a case of existential angst, or creative expression, or maybe both. I hear misadventures help.

Noctambulist, who's writing brilliance is perhaps overshadowed only by his ambivalence in all things, has mentioned me in his journal entry. As is usual, his compliment is of the back-handed variety.
I'm missing SpilledMilk for some inexplicable reason. Hope my town is doin' you up right, doll.
Velvet is too freaking hot. We Italians really do rule. Much better than those...

I suppose your hypocrisy extends from your political views to the way you deal with confrontation.
You start out with some bullshit "high road" act professing indignation at my "calling you names," and then proceed to call me (in so many words) a war-mongering paranoid. Nice. I especially like the way you clicked the little "ignore" button so as to not have your little fantasy land further invaded upon.
I also noticed that you quickly added a new journal entry (that basically says nothing) in an attempt to avoid people noticing that I completely and utterly outed you in my journal comment.
I couldn't help but notice that you didn't counter my comment with any facts. Just your little "indignant" smoke and mirrors act you use to keep from having to defend your indefensible stance on America.
It's easy to sit around acting all enlightened because you think our country sucks and everyone else (even the murderous British empire of the 18th century) are morally superior. I thought that way when I was a kid because I wanted to be "cool" and "fight the man" and all that shit. But I look at your profile and you're pushing 40. Aren't you a little old to be acting like this?
I invite you to try and debate me on the facts. Not a name will be abused, I assure you. But come with something better than the obvious lies and propaganda you tossed out there last time, man. I'll hit those out of the park 10 out of 10 times.
I like a challenge. You up for it? My advice: bring a history book this time.

ps - If anyone reading this is wondering what I'm talking about, just read Trilo's journal entry from the 4th and my response.
pps Hey Trilo, feel free to respond here because I'm not going to "ignore" you like a coward.

Interesting that Justice O'Connor decided to announce her retirement from the bench right before July 4th weekend, a period which serves as one of the few tiny blips during the year when the rancor and vitriol that usually defines american politics is set aside in favor of some much-needed patriotism.
But instead of honorably calling quarter and giving the country a respite from the seemingly...

Just putting the finishing touches on the day-long process of restoring my computer. I wiped the hard drive clean and reinstalled XP and every bloody program I have. Why did I do it you ask? Did I have some virus or unexplainable clutter that I could not get rid of? Why no!
So why, then?
Easy: OCD. I have this little thing...

The main reason I am not a proponent of declawing is pain. Imagine having your fingernails ripped from their nail beds, and then if you were a cat, the last "digit" so to speak, of your finger cut off to prevent the nail from regrowing. It's damn painful. True, a cat that is indoors only does not necessarily "need" its claws, but how many housecats do you know that have never escaped at some point? One of the most unnerving cases I have ever seen involved a 13 year old cat that had been fully declawed, front and back, and had gotten attacked by 4 dogs. Not to say the cat would have had a chance anyways even with claws, but it would've had a better chance. I only advocate declawing in circumstances where extensive behavior modification has failed. I don't see your inquiry as contentious at all In fact, being unemployed has me missing my job immensely, so I'm happy to share my point of view with you. Bad timing indeed. Sometimes I wonder if the definition of the word family is "group of individuals that will kick you when you're down." Oh well...just life.

I was watching the film "Coach Carter" last night, and heard this quote:
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our dark that most frightens us.
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people don't...

I'm sorry. I have been absolutely no help at all. Falling into those depressed self loathing states that equal no communication with anyone.
I'm not ignoring you, douchebag. I'm just highly unreliable. Something that should come as no shock to you.
Why can't you live here? I bet you'd make a swell drinkin buddy.
I attended the Beer Festival as well. So many yummy beers! A veritable zymurgic heaven!
