There's something unnerving about hearing yourself recorded. I've been singing with a friends group and during practice we record with this little tape recorder, straight out of your read along turn the page tone moments in preschool. Some of the songs are pretty difficult to sing (it's bluegrass) which I'm not really down with but it's fun to just hit some notes and dance around during instrumentals. We practiced for about 3 hours. I have only seen the music 3 times, so I'm having a little trouble fitting all the syllables in where they need to be, but they're all impressed with how fast I'm catching on, so I can't complain. I'm trying to introduce a couple of new songs, maybe some Uncle Tupelo or Sean Hayes 'cause these guys are basically doing a lot of bluegrass standards that everyone's heard. Convincing them to try new songs isn't really that easy. They do agree that it's a good idea and I've got one song approved already.
Really looking forward to the weekend. A friend comes back from a Zen retreat in California after 6 months of Mu. There are several parties, one Lesbian birthday and one graduation. Plenty to do and see. I vote for the 3 day weekend. Anyone second that?
