Whew! Happy 2007, everyone!
I had a very long and stressful, but ultimately fun, New Year's Eve in Times Square. New York is awesome, and a good portion of my night was spent at this great Irish pub called the Pig and Whistle. I brought the new girlfriend, but I'm not sure how that's going. She claims she had a fun time, but she spent maybe 70% of the time on her phone texting other people. I can understand wanting to wish your friends Happy New Year's, but have some consideration, you're here with someone.
I spent a lot of time, effort, and money to plan our trip and have it be a big surprise. A lot of things went wrong, but I still had lots of fun. I'd like to do it again next year, esspecially knowing what I learnt this year. Courtney was... frustrating. She was tired from never sleeping, even though she slept the night before, and on the train ride up, and took several catnaps throughout the day. She got very grumpy at one point and didn't want to do anything or talk to anybody, and I literally had to drag her away from texting to do the countdown. Then she didn't say more than 5 words to me on the entire trip home.
I still had a fun time, regardless, and slept for about 24 straight hours when I got home. I'm not sure where I stand with her, though. Too many differences, maybe.

and i would have been a tad upset if my date was texting all night as well. sometimes alcohol and lack of sleep make people act and do things they normally wouldn't.
hopefully things work out for you. if not, find somebody better!
