I shot this series at a local Motel in the Honey Moon Suite.
I had met with my client for the first time. As I was setting up my lights, the model had let me know she brought multiple outfit choices but she was uncomfortable at this point in her modelling career with nudity.
I can't express how important it is to use active listening and respect people's limits and boundaries. When I shoot I like to provide a #safespace atmosphere where model's can be themselves. I encourage the use of the buddy system, or at least letting an emergency contact know when, where and who they are shooting with.
If any person tells me that something makes them feel uncomfortable, I am not going to push for it. That just creates a horrible dynamic between photog and model; an environment I don't want to be involved with. I appreciate when models speak up and let me know their preferences. If we can get on the same page, then all of our creative thoughts/energy can be pushing towards the same vision.
During my shoot with this model, she had a slight wardrobe malfunction where her left breast became exposed. In the moment I honestly had no idea if it was intentional or not. Maybe she had warmed up and was ready to show more, but without a verbal cue I had no way of being sure. Rather than wasting a bunch of great shots, it took two seconds to bring this to her intention. She was able to fix herself quickly and felt at ease that I had respected her wishes. This kind of respect and consideration is how we should be making people feel.
It's important for models to be safe, get references and choose wisely. Not every photog in the world shares this philosophy, but this is my way of trying to lead by example and being the change in the world I want to see.
I got into photography to create art in all it's forms and I don't limit myself to artistic, implied or other forms of pin-up/boudoir. I also involve myself in regular glamour shots, family photography, music related, creative projects and so on. I like to challenge myself by keeping an open mind and being versatile.
Thank you to all my FOLLOWERS for the continued love and support.
