Today: anticipation, as if to balance out the last entry's nostalgia.
Tea and coffee with Mary last night.
A rambling conversation about photography, religion, future plans, the merits of various Austin art galleries, and her friend who is on some kind of bizarre fast in which he eats only Hot Pockets and beer.
It was like the antithesis of all the blind dates and first dates I have been on lately, as fluid and gentle and refreshing as a clear creek in high summer.
Without my even noticing quite how it happened, we now have plans to attend the next opening at a gallery that happened to be within eyeshot of the coffeeshop, to meet and share portfolios in the near future, to have me teach her how to do selenium toning, and to take a photography daytrip to the Hill Country. And, just to show we have other interests, to attend a 2-day class completely unrelated to photography together.
I'm sure I must have instigated some of this, but it all happened so naturally.
She wore her glasses, which she wasn't wearing at the show. Her eyes are amazing, framed or unframed.
Once, mid-sentence, I thought about kissing her. I finished my sentence instead, while she blinked the way someone does when you have blown a short little breath in their face. That little blink of mingled mild irritation and pleasure...
Anticipation.
It's either the beginning of a very promising romance, or at the very least, an amazing artistic friendship.
Either one would delight me, really, but that doesn't keep me from having a preference.
