So my birthday is coming up, and thanks to my rad friend L, I am gonna get a party without lifting a finger. Woooo!
We haven't set a definite date, but it will most likely be the 11th, 13th, 18th, or 19th. Tentative plans include a kick-ass band playing, top-notch drinkies, yummy party treats baked by the lovely L, and a hot tub and a pool. Wooooo!
The party, if it goes as planned, will be in the northern fringe of San Marcos, TX, just south of Austin.
So, if you live in the vicinity and would like an invite, e-mail me to tell me how much you love me, and maybe I'll invite you.
Yay! My friends rock!

LATER...
Also, today we had a meeting for those of us who still don't know what the fuck we'll be doing now that the company merger is over. Most people have been reassigned to new positions, but there will be *no* programming, DBA, or design positions in Austin.
Since that pretty much kills all the things I am overqualified to do in the corporate world, there's not much for me here.
The option we have is: find a new job for ourselves in the Austin branch (not likely, see above), find a new job in the new company headquarters (Salt Lake City, no thank you), or lose our jobs on 12/1.
I think I'm actually going to take the last option, and here's why...our former boss, who relocated to SLC to be the CIO, is working to get us 1 month of severance pay per year of service with the company if we stay on until 12/1. So I can leave with 7 months pay in hand.
After getting screwed out of my hard-earned 3-month sabbatical that I was planning to spend in Europe this summer, I'm thinking...3 months in Europe, then 4 months looking for a new job. I get my sabbatical after all! Wooooo!
So cross your fingers that the severance check comes through. After 7 years in this crappy company, I've certainly earned it.
