One week into the new job , & I am still pretty damned jazzed about it . Last week was all orientation . And the next 6 ( ! ) months may be training . Will be shorter depending on how fast I pick up on things . A couple of the things I'm really happy about . 1 ) It's easily the most diverse group of people I've ever worked with . And that is very cool in my book . 2 ) Everyone there has been crazy friendly so far . All of us in our class last week were blown away by that . 3 ) Most of the folks leading our classes have been working there for over 15 years ! This is getting rarer in the states . They told us that just this spring a woman retired after 41 years there 4 ) And this may be the thing that has made me happier then any of the others . Everyone in there has stressed how they WANT folks to change jobs & better themselves in the facility . I have always been aggravated at all of my other jobs by being shut down from changing to a better position . In fact , yesterday we were told that they WANT folks to move around there because the more they know , the greater strength they become for the Red Cross over all . You don't know how good that made me feel to hear that .
