I'm awaiting a call from my formerly Amsterdam-based friend, currently working in Darfur, who leaves Heathrow tonight for her (I hope) final 4 months out there. I haven't seen her in over a year and she is mostly unable to email whilst there so we have catching-up to do, and a visit to the wildlife photographer exhibition. No doubt coffee and expensive cakes will also figure in the arrangement at some point.
Next week I will be meeting up with her sister, over from NewZealand.
Her sister is a former housemate which is how I got to know them both. After she left I regularly used to meet one or the other whilst both were in the UK & both are now close friends but the two of them are rarely in the same place (or same country) at the same time these days.
