A sad end to the year. I was dozing in bed on Monday night when I heard the news. An icon, a rebel, a wit, and a talented and influential musician and songwriter; loved and respected by millions around the world. Despite his gruff, 'scary' image (he didn't 'suffer fools gladly' - damn right.) he was a humble, modest, friendly man from all I've heard about him: I've not met him myself but I did see him amongst the audience, not at the side of the stage, at a gig at Dingwalls, (I don't remember the band playing).
He was also intelligent, witty, sensitive and perceptive, and a talented musician and songwriter - who produced slow, sensitive songs too: he wasn't all about 280+ bpm songs, played very loud. The irony being that someone who wasn't a fan of the band would be unlikely to discover that.
Two from Lemmy's softer repertoire.
And one that isn't.
To you, Lemmy, and thanks.
