It's basically the same as the camera I stupidly lost a few months ago, which I was really fond of, but has been upgraded twice since I bought that one - besides an extra 2m pixels and various other improvements the (optical - not that crappy digital rubbish) close focusing zoom lens is now 12x
I love my macro pics - and sneaky ones from the other end of the pub
Other matters...
Yesterday I was going into town and I passed a squirrel calmly perched on a wall munching what looked like a ginger nut biscuit. Sadly there was no mug of tea beside it.
And something from last weekend I meant to add but forgot. It was the "Open house' weekend when they open up all kinds of buildings in london you can't normally get into. You should have seen the queue outside the Bank of England. Did I care? I used to work there. Seen it.
One of the places I went was a church in Aldgate where they were allowing access to the bell tower. There was also a talk about the bells & ringing them which may sound dull but was actually far from it. (see below). Then we were allowed, four at a time, into the belfry. Shiny, sharply winding stairs with no handrail and very dusty and very cramped - 8 bells, some large, plus their mechanism, in a space not much over 15x15 feet. Unfortunately because of lack of space I wasn't able to turn so had to peer at some of it over my shoulder but it was still fascinating seeing first hand how it all works. They wouldn't let us touch the ropes though. Meanies.
During the talk he mentioned that some churches pretend they have bells by having speakers up there and playing recordings - and (may be an urban myth) some pranksters at one church switched the recording, replacing it with a Beatles record. Come service time ...
Some Spring pictures
[SPOILER]
My next camera - probably early next year. It's not an SLR though it looks similar (but apart from the non-removable lens it is damn close and has some features that SLR's don't) I will get an SLR at some point but this is an excellent piece of hardware.
