Dark Clarity
Like a rose the world lay blooming before me. Its petals vibrant and full the promise of dark and hidden pleasures within their comforting folds. My mind reeled at the thought of never having seen what was clearly laid before me. Old things I saw new with unreal clarity. Like a child I reveled in the most hidden of secrets. The haze had left my sight and smiles were like cool water upon my lips. The wind my lovers embrace. The moon her most loving gaze. Under that watchful gaze I bathed in a brook that sang a soothing song of a thousand pleasures. Lying down on the rich earth I slept. In my demented rest I tore at myself and thrashed upon the ground. From the darkness of sleep I saw the thing I most feared as it fed upon that which is I.
I struggled with it and gave no quarter it seemed we would end together. When my strength was at its last my sight seeming to fade I awoke alone by the brook. On the bank I knelt to sooth my ragged throat in the clear water. As my face drew near I saw it once again. Leaned forward I kissed it like a lover while the cold water filled my lungs.
