busy busy busy! work is kicking my ass. too many patients. too much blood. so little concentration. plus this texas heat is melting my ambitions away. oh well.
this weekend my san marcos friend, kathy, had her daughter. it was touch and go for the first few hours of the baby's life but she is doing great. She is the cutest little thing i have been near all week. my best wishes go out to her and her mother and father.
Must tell you: bruce campbell was great. what a nice guy, firm handshake, and a pleasant smile you could stare at for hours. i picked up his new book but have yet to read it. before his new movie began he came out and talked up the process of making this fine cheesy film. Filmed in belgium in 20 days. originally was to take place in L.A. but due to the other people putting up most of the money it was shot, as i said, i belgium. so bruce re-wrote the script to make the setting more like the shooting. also the script called for the movie to be 98% at night but once again the investors (scifi channel) said "nope, daytime". if you read the comic book version, it takes place at night. he entertained the crowd with stories, jokes, and impressions. when asked if he is going to be in the third installment of spiderman, he quipped "didn't i defeat him in the second one?". another fan asked about the sequel to army of darkness and he mimed picking up a phone and calling sam raimi "'yeah, sam, i have been thinking, why don't you quit making millions and we go and do that fourth evil dead film'. that's going to happen" the question of the freddy, jason, ash movie was also tossed out and bruce sad no. then some drunk woman screamed out "do it" and he said "'Hey, studio exec, some drunk chick wants me to do this ash vs. freddy vs. jason thing, get to it' come on, lady, sober up." a good night indeed.
not much is going on currently. work, movies, reading, repeat. played halo2 with my best friend and brother-in-law last night and got our asses handed to us by the many eight-year-olds on that damn xbox live. can't wait until next month when my family and i go up to surprise my sister for her birthday. OH, and new orleans in oct!!! fuck yeah. and if i remember, american deathtrip and malignus youth are having reunion shows in flagstaff in sept....hmm, a reason to make a trip home? get another tattoo? who knows?
