It has happened again.
Every so often, whether because I forgot why I don't do it or because I trim a bit too deeply, I cut my beard way back. This morning, I trimmed too deeply when trying to clean the thing up, and there is only one solution to that problem.
It has been a long time since I have seen my chin. And I had forgotten how round my face is.
In other news, the semester at TCI is winding down. I have already given the first set of final exams, and I have all but five of the papers graded that need grading. As a result, I am more or less clear to work on my dissertation with minimal interruptions this week--it is good to have something to keep the hands busy while proctoring exams.
I also have my summer teaching schedule, which is lighter than this semester's. Sonya, though, has more classes over the summer this year than last. This means that we will actuallly have more money coming in. Add to that the fact that we will probably have less in the way of expenses (I am not moving in this summer, for instance, and we already have an air conditioner), and we should be well ahead of where we were at this time last year. And that is a good thing.
Certainly, I am better off now than I was, oh, two years ago...but that is not a surprise, really.
I feel like it is about time for me to start my irregular re-readings of Asimov and Tolkien. I am, though, going to need to get new copies of some of them soon; those that I have are getting pretty beat up after the, what, fifteen years I've been reading and re-reading some of them. I have more than gotten my money's worth from them (particularly for those I bought at Books to Share in Kerrville), and it is not wasteful to replace something that is falling apart.
My socks, for example.
