Sonya and I went to a little medieval festival up at Fort Tryon Park. We had a pretty good time there, even if it was a bit crowded and under-served with food. The music was fine, the craft booths were pretty good, and watching people get smacked upside the head with sticks is always, ALWAYS funny.
I am almost looking forward to this week. Tuesday will be a bit of a problem, since the evening class has some...issues; it seems I do not treat them poorly enough, since at least one student said I am supposed to "treat us [the students] like idiots." I am tempted, actually, to do so. Sorely. But I think that would be going too easy on them, so I'll not.
College, kids, is not supposed to be easy, even in a remedial class. And students are not supposed to get passed along for the sake of being passed. Get the idea out of your heads that you get extra benefits for showing the hell up. And get the idea out of your heads that I am supposed to be nice; I'm not in the room to be anyone's friend. I'm in the classroom to improve and evaluate your skills.
If this is a problem for you, then you might need to reconsider being in college.
