The Warlord ordains that there be a period of mourning, now, for his faithful hound has died.
Seriously, folks, my mother called me about an hour ago. The lab-shepherd mix we've had for fourteen years or so, Puck, seems to have gone to sleep last night and never woken up. There were no marks on his body, no evidence that he had suffered. He simply seems to have slipped into the everlasting sleep.
He was a good dog, loyal, easy-natured, fierce towards those who had no business being near him. He watched over us for most of my life, and actually has warned off intruders.
I weep at his passing.

Before we got Ivan, we took in a stray we named Frank. We only had him for about 3 months before he died (he was very sick), but it was still so hard losing him. 14 years just doesn't compare.
On the up side, 14 years isn't bad. And going in your sleep isn't either.
He was a good dog.
