If you can't see God in all, you can't see God at all.

That was the meditation for my yoga class last night, and it was a doozy. It takes a particular humility to see that the divine spark (whatever you perceive it to be) is as present in the tarantula hawk (a creature I find deeply unsettling) and Pinochet as in kittens and Tom Waits and oneself. I am God, thou art God, all that groks is God. We have been blessed with a strange and difficult planet, but she is beautiful and easy to love. I laughed all night long in happiness.

Tonight was my first night of copyediting school! (A select few of you will now be gripping your beverages and crying, "Summon the Kraken!" and/or throwing the horns.) It was lovely. It takes a perverse and funny spirit to think that going through sentences for clarity and grammar is a fun way to spend an evening, but there you go. I am super excited about it and about my evolution as a Professional Grammar Nazi. Copyediting is like being an esthetician, but instead of poring over and scrutinizing and picking at someone's skin, you're doing so with words. Paragraphs and paragraphs to be fixed! Oh, golly, stop me, I'm getting all flustered just thinking of it!

I finally found the perfect octopus image to use as a basis for my next tattoo. I hope to be going in soon.

Life is great.

How are you?

I had a thought a couple weeks ago that I'd like to share with you because you seem to have a similar one - the Pinochet reference hit home particularly with me seeing as I live in a house once shared by Ben Linder.

I was thinking about Pat Robertson - a guy with incredible devotion and passion and drive. But otherwise a completely closed-minded motherfucker, no? But what if we harnessed his talent for good? I mean, what if he'd been a social anarchist or a passionate physicist? Or a doctor?

When I think about him that way, there are no bad people - just talented people who sprouted in the wrong place.
