If you have read my Happy 19th Birthday SG blog, you already know how much the SG community has meant to me over the years. If you have followed my photography over the last four years, you know I’ve been working very hard towards my goal to become a SG staff photographer. I’ve submitted over 70 sets and had 14 Sets of The Day on the front page with 13 different ladies. I’ve had the honor of helping three ladies turn pink and made countless friends and positive memories along the way.
When I recently requested to become a staff photographer, I was told that it is never going to happen, but I can still continue submitting sets as long as I’d like. To say the least, it was a huge shock and disappointment for me. I have been a part of this community for 16 years and it’s been so great these last few years to feel like I’m giving back and contributing to the community in some small way. Which is why it’s been such a difficult decision to step away from a community that means so much to me.
I will no longer be shooting or submitting sets for SG. It’s a bittersweet feeling for sure. I will always be grateful for the opportunities SG has provided me and for all the wonderful people from the SG community that have become a permanent part of my life. I have 5 sets left in the queue that will come out in the next few months and that will be the last of my work that will be on this site. If you are a model and we’ve shot a set for SG that has not been submitted yet, please be sure to contact me to make sure we can decide the best place for that content to be released. I will still be shooting, so feel free to reach out if you would like to work together outside of SG as well.
Every single like and comment on a set that I shot, means the world to me. I’ve always tried to read them all and I genuinely and sincerely appreciate some of the kind and amazing things some of you have said about my work! And honestly, isn’t that one of the best things about SG?! I live in California, but over the years I can definitely remember comments from people I’ve never met in person like @nanette in New York, @Gitanna in Mexico or @ojtheviking in Norway, making me smile with their words and making my day better. That’s the kind of thing I’ve always loved about SG. The genuine community of lovely souls supporting each other, near and far. I’ve met SGs who live 10 mins away from me, all the way to Australia and everywhere in between. And they’ve all been amazing, supportive, lovely people. I hope that sense of community never goes away.
Thanks again for the love and support. I will leave you with one of my favorite all time photos that I’ve ever taken, a candid shot of @vaire and @reed getting ready to shoot a set with me. It always makes me smile and it always reminds me of some of my favorite memories of SG. If you have any memories you'd like to share, feel free to leave them in the comments.
