Wow, where the hell did August go? I can't believe it's the 30th already, and here I am looking at this tiny apartment, wondering where to begin with the packing... I feel so last minute about everything, in that we don't have keys to the new apartment, have no moving truck/van in which to transport the bigger things, have no help from anyone to move anything, Matt works today and I work tomorrow so we're flying solo each day at the apartment to move things, etc etc etc
I guess I should haven't been up to feeling the stress of it all. I guess maybe I was just trying to let a more nonchalant attitude sweep across (and obviously failing miserably because I am starting to freak out a little).
I may not have the internet for a bit, until after things have settled with the move and what have you, which is fine by me since there's plenty of other things to get done and it will perhaps just mean more time to do them. Besides, Montreal is known for it's free internet at every caf and isn't that the joy of owning a laptop? It's transportability?
I landed myself a job. I am a barista at Starbucks. I am quite enjoying myself with this job. It's so different than anything else I've done, I like interacting with people and enjoying making drinks. My co-workers are a bit of a hit and miss, and my manager is certainly lacking. Training has been a shit show but as a whole, I like being employed, I like working on my feet, I like an income, and I like being busy busy busy. This whole past week I worked at a different location, so that was actually a welcomed and refreshing change of pace, scenery, clientele, staff, etc.
Well, on that note, I guess it's time I gave Starbucks head office a call, since I didn't receive any pay for the last two weeks of work, and that is something that needs to be taken care of, right away.
Also, JUST in time for moving (since we'll be making countless trips with boxes in our Cavalier), there's a blown fuse, or short circuit, or something (I'm not a car-savvy person) that has caused the turn signals to not work and the brights. That's right, no turn signals. It doesn't even make the "ding" sound or flash the lights inside to show it's on. They just don't work. And I don't even know where to begin to look for a good place in this new city to have them looked at, and I guess repaired (no money to do so with either...)
I feel like this post seems full of complaints, and I hope that is not the case. I am actually rather ecstatic to be moving and can't wait to have a real place to call home. I guess I just needed to vent a little bit before continuing with packing, and wanted to check back on here for a bit, since it's been so long. August seriously came and went right before my eyes, with the 4 day trip to Halifax, followed by beginning job training and my mother visiting for a week, plus apartment hunting and lease signing and packing and more work, and and and....
I'm off!
My set gets put up in less than a month and I'm SOOOO excited for that!
