Well, one benefit to working retail. I've lost 27 pounds in the last 2 months thanks to sweating my ass off (quite literally) in the back room. Downside: I have to get my suits re-tailored. Oh well, at least it's a stepping stone.
We had a regional level guy from the marketing department come to take a look at the store since we were a new prototype. I stopped him and gave him an idea I had to promote cross-selling between the traditional market area and our new expanded produce section. He asked for my name and wanted me to send him an e-mail with the details.
He comes back a week later, and I run into him. After about a 2 minute convo, "So, you went to law school? Ever thought about going back?"
He then asked me interview type questions for about 10 minutes.
That was 2 weeks ago. Apparently, he pulled up my resume from the data bank, and requested an interview for me with the corporate HR person to work in the corporate marketing department.
Haven't heard anything yet, but I am optimistic. I might actually get to put my degree to some use. =P
