Nine Inch Nails - Leaving Hope
I know i have posted a video for this song before... but a few weeks ago the boy and i were discussing the song and i wanted your opinions. Whats neat about instrumentals is its left completely up the audience to interpret the mood and message in the song. The song is titled Leaving Hope... which initially sets the mood as sadness and despair. My boyfriend thinks the song is very sad... the world is coming to and end and we no longer have hope... This makes perfect sense to me, but its not how i see it. Maybe im optimistic by heart? When i listen to it i hear a bit of uplifting, or more like a release of weight. It's like when something has been dragging you down and you hope things will change, and you hope things go back to the way they were... and then one day you decide your not going to hope anymore... your going to move on... you leave your hope behind and suddenly a weight is lifted and you can then conquer your problems and take on your life. The only example i could give him is pretty rudimentary: It's like if you were dating some woman for a long time, and she leaves you... you sit around wallowing hoping she will come back... you cant function... you cant breathe... When you finally realize you are better than that you let go of the hope and move on.
Does that make any sense? The video isnt a official video for the song... there is no video created for it. It was released on the Still CD which was available only though the NIN website (i dont know if its still that way) a few years ago, it is my favorite NIN album and contains very raw broken down songs that are full of feeling and really hit you hard when you hear them. This video is fan made and is yet again someone elses interpretation of the song.
And yet again... Check out my photography!

I get the message that no matter how bad things get, that we can go on and that life will get better somehow.
