I once again have fish. Artemis and Dave both died (actually, I think Dave is one of the fish in my tank right now, but he may not be), so I now have two new neon tetras.

They are Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, and I will leave it up to them to decide which is which.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were never able to tell one another apart, and neither could anyone else (it's also sort of a joke, since neon tetras can be extremely hard to tell apart). So identity is flexible in the sense that it is as much a matter of performance as it is biology and the internalization of things.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern's identities merged performatively until they were interchangeable, and not even they could tell each other apart.
