Been some time and many miles since my last post. Only dropped in a bit to see some sets but nothing else. And yes, I am here for the sets. I spent a week in Arizona. Always nice to mix business with pleasure. Some good friends in Arizona. Each time we hangout I realize how much more of a good friend they really are. Val has always been awesome and close but Bobby hasn't been. Maybe because his joking is always imminent. I do feel now I can consider him a solid friend. I thought at times but now I know. Perhaps that's a combination of just getting to know each other. Bobby is awesome too. (Edited for more rants. Yep, I'm happy!)
Just a damn good time in Arizona. Bob (not Bobby) is great. Finally met his wife and she was just fun. You just never know what to expect on that end. Bob is a 50 year-old metal head that still plays a Les Paul. He used to work in Portland but they just couldn't deal with the non-summer there. Understandable. It is a stretch at times. But we.re closer now that he's gone. Is that ironic? Not sure of the definition since Alanis Morrisette messed it all up for us.
But I just hope to make my way back to Arizona again. Val is so freaking awesome. Love her to no end. She has made it up to Portland with Bobby sometimes. Phenomenal. As Val would say ( and Telly too), "Who loves you. baby?"
A little background, we met Bobby and Val in Ireland. We both lived there 2003-2004. We had a geat Thanksgiving there in Dublin. My Dad was over then and they got to know him then. They sent such great words when he passed. He loved them too. He was flirting with Val that night. He is absolutely one of the coolest motherfuckers I have ever met and I only hope I am a part of that. But I do know he learned so much from me the last years. It is awesome to spend time with your father as a best friend. I'm sure the same as a mother. My dad was born in 1937 and he was "old school" before there was old school. My wife has been key in the expanded relationship with my father. We shook hands for serious good byes. She pushed me into hugging him and I know he knew absolutely how I felt in the end. We spent many conversations over pints of Guinness in Ireland. Just see my pics for a awesome picture of him or see a previous blog.
I am in California this week for a class. Haven't been here in, maybe, five years. I think almost five years. Can't remember. Found some Lagunitas Little Sumpin Extra bombers at the store earlier. Quiet night at the hotel tonight. Had Afghan for lunch. Really tasty and the beer went well with the leftovers. So take care all. Like anyone reads this but if you do, hope you have a great day/night. Yep, a rant has happened. Cigarette?!?
Shit, some more rants. I am happy my Louisiana Sate Tigers are still winning. Somehow! Hell, Florida this weekend but it may work out for them. Astounding. They should lose this weekend but who knows. Went to Seattle last month to see them open against Washington. A win. I'm happy but just wonder how long this will go on. If they beat FL, they will surely lose to 'Bama. And my Saints! Holly crap! They are off this week then have NY Giants at home. Their only tough games are at home this year. Scary but "VERY NICE!". It has been since never with them. Jim Mora if you were a better coach you'd have would won the Super Bowl in 1992. Seriously! Playoffs?!? Jim Mora (Sr), YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Peace out! I am also partaking in some other CA wares that my friend was generous with. I provide some "Santori Times" for him when he's in town. "For relaxing times, make it Santori time..."

So, I brewed a dark ale (bottling this week, so still no idea what it'll be like) using a beer kit. But I have been reading Papazian and have lots of ideas for proper recipes now, just have to decide where to start.... I like some IPAs, although I have a tough time with the bitterness sometimes. I just finished a very interesting book about a guy who recreated the traditional IPA recipe and then took a barrel of it on ships from the UK to India to taste it. It was a very good book, with lots of history about IPA as well as India, and the East India Company (called 'Hops and Glory' by Pete Brown if you're interested).
