I've gotten home from a rock costume party. My friend and I went on a shopping binge and she bought everything we needed for our costumes, dinner, dessert at Finale (I HIGHLY recommend them), and hair dye for me. I'm going orange next, and it should be different but still subtle enough that I won't shock anyone in an interview. That is, if I get an interview. I was talking with the mananger at Hootenanny, Sean I think, and he told me that if I was still looking in September that he was going to be hiring then for the Halloween rush. He remembered my resume, and me (pink hair -yes!). I told him I would "definitely be up for trying that".
Then my friend and I took the T to the party. She was dressed like a rock chic from the 80's, and the looks she got from people were very unpleasant! We stopped at a CVS, and the nice woman there said we both "looked GREAT" and not to worry a bit.
The party was fine. I'm not a party person in the least. As of late, I don't party. To keep myself there, I DRANK. I had three beers, and about 6 ounces of liquour with an ounce of gin. That's a lot for me. I do take medication. So I came home, feeling sober by then, and took my medication and went to bed. It's 5:24am. I'm nauseus as hell, my face is swollen, and I'm feeling like I'm going to explode out of my skin. Fuck the meds so I took three antioxidants and I'm hoping for the best. I guess, after drinking, I'm still metabolizing the alcohol for more than 5 hours afterwards. So I'm not sure if my meds were too bad of a combination with the alcohol. I also drank a lot of water, to help flush it out of my system - both meds and alcohol as I'm pretty sure by now that the combination wasn't swell.
But the party was GREAT. I got to see people grinding on the dance floor, grinding on the couch, and pda's all around. We went for a walk and swung on the swings - it was the first time in a decade that I'd done it - and some of us played basketball with these thugs that were nice but a little pushy. I then walked barefoot back to the apartment with everyone and we all went inside.
My friend was ready to leave, so she changed into her regular clothes, and I changed shoes. By the time I was ready she was sitting talking to people. I didn't want to bother her, but she ruined my good party feeling so that she could tell me she wanted to "go NOW" and then she sat down and started socializing again after I'd said good-bye to everyone. I'm glad she had fun. She's a lesbian, and there were quite a few there, and she also has a degree and knows enough about the right things that she had stories to share. However, she mentioned my medication in front of a bunch of strangers. Not good.
I'm definitely hoping that we get to go to a party together again, though. She was all for it. I'll have to talk to her about the medication thing, but the party was still a good mix with the two of us.
So I hope you're all doing well.
I'll post pics of the new orange hair!
