Well, Ive just finished my week off. I worked on the house and rested. I feel like a new man. Plus I installed a new ceiling fan, wired three new circuits to the kitchen, put in new sheetrock around the tub, wired plugs and lights and switches for the whole kitchen, and put a some lighting in the garage. Oh and I ran plumbing and electric for a new washer and dryer Im gonna buy next weekend. My life is pretty calm right now.
Work is hectic and a little overdramatic at the moment but Im working on that. I think the owners and I are finally together on reorganizing some things. I scared them all a bit last week. The short version is that we have been overbooked for over a year. The theory was just knuckle down and get the business while it was there and we would catch up later when demand normalized. Only it hasnt and the personnel and the equipment are coming apart at the seems. Also due to fatigue and lack of time mistakes have been made. The latest of which was that the owners made some promises to a client on a project that I was running. Impossible promises. Well when I found out I was hot. I know I am a cynical bastard who doesnt seem to care much about much but, Im proud of my work. I take it very seriously and work very hard at it. So when I realized I had to tell someone we couldnt keep our promise it frustrated me beyond what I can explain. Either you understand what Im saying or I just sound like a tool and nothing I can write will change that. So I had a little meeting with the president and vice president of the company I work for and told them that this was unacceptable. I never said the word quit but my voice shook with frustration at one point and I know my eyes were blazing. They fell all over themselves apologizing. We will see. Trust me that was the short version.
I wish I could spend another month working on the house. I love this place. Its going to be awesome when we are done.
