If you were crazy into Star Wars as a kid like I was, you probably read some of the EU books. Hell, I still read them and I'm in my twenties. You could say that's still the age of a kid, I don't care, I run and gun for a living. Anyways, I always thought the books gave a better show for themselves than the movies, in the fact that there was a damn good story in it with more than the basic elements for a heroic movie.
Disney really missed out when they didn't dive right into the EU, imagine a movie with the Thrawn Crisis, the war against the Imperial Remnant, the Yuuzhan Vong War. All good stories, with an excellent assortment of characters. Could you see a movie with Boba Fett leading the rest of the Mandalorians to war on Basilisk war droids? I could've, till we got the remake of Episode IV, with the only good part being an unnamed storm trooper. Seriously, TR-8R was the only good part of the movie, the rest of it was a bunch of member berries.
I don't want to nerd rage too hard, I already do that every time my friends decide to tell me Boba Fett supposedly died in the Sarlacc Pit, when we all know he blew his way out of there with a grenade. The books are still canon in my eyes, I refuse these new movies, and the shitty puppet CGI cartoons.
