poll:
both of the following statements are incorrect. which one sounds worse to you?
a) "my clothes need washed" or "my room really needs cleaned" (missing 'to be')
b) "i'm done my book" or "i'm done class" (missing 'with')
you can still give me your response, but if you say something mean, i might never let you hear me talk
from the thread i posted on the boards about this:
interesting, interesting.
some of you would never want to hear me speak
i'm from a small town in northwestern, pa. i grew up saying 'my hair needs cut,' 'my clothes need washed' etc, and, in all seriousness didn't even know it was wrong until i came to college and my roommate said 'what did you just say?' and proceeded to laugh at me. i then realized, though, that a bunch of people from the philadelphia area who i know leave out the word 'with,' which i think sounds worse.
apparently i'm just biased, and i, in the end, sound dumber. ah, well

Even though I, for the most part, am a grammatical nazi I still like you. Though, in my opinion, proper grammar and spelling are next to godliness. As for the flower... well... yeah. I guess I am emo. It was beautiful though, right? I just had to take a picture of it to preserve it's beautiful for as long as I can.

I think b. sounds worse, but then, I grew up with grandparents that call wolves "woofs", milk "melk", and wash "worsh". Luckily I don't say them that way anymore, but I did for a long time as a kid.
