9. (this is it.)
It was trick-or-treat night, a Thursday, and she knew something was wrong as soon as she pulled in the driveway; there were two extra cars parked in front of her house. When she stepped in the door it was confirmed; the two Hospice nurses stared down at her from the top of the stairs and she could hear her mother crying.
She didnt cry. She walked to the top of the stairs and saw her father lying on the couch, dead. His eyes were open and rolled back just a little, and his tongue stuck slightly out of his mouth. She wasnt there when he died. She had no idea about last words or whether it was peaceful. She didnt get to try (in vain) to comfort him as he took his last breath. She was the only one who wasnt there.
She didnt cry when they came to take the body away and her mother asked them to leave his head uncovered (hed want it that way.) She didnt cry at the wake, when she met people she didnt really know and struggled to respond to numerous Im sorrys. She didnt cry at the funeral, didnt cry when she got up and read poetry to everyone else (who was crying.) She went home and did her best to keep her family together. It was all that she could doafter all, she wasnt even there.
A few months later, she slept in her room alone, and he came to her in a dream. She was waiting for a ride, and he pulled up in his old blue Toyota. They were talking and suddenly she remembered he was dead, and he disappeared. She woke up cryingsobbing, gasping, chokingand cried until morning.

2. i need to figure out what kindof nametags to make for my residents. they have to be simple, as i've got about 70 people, and should be 'social action' theme oriented as i'm on a special living option floor this year. ( i have to put them on the doors to their rooms.)

The rest of the new recruits won't get theirs until tomorrow. But I went ahead and made yours.
