A Vegetable Fantasy By: Me!
Once long ago in a land by the sea,
Lived the prince Salvatore celery,
This prince fell in love with a beautiful dame,
Princess Monique red pumelo was her name,
Their differences were many, their family's did fued,
Over inter-mixed marriages between food,
But could love between vegetable and fruit ever be?
Gather round close, listen, and see,
*
The prince of Rouffage, Salvatore Celery,
Was about as unhappy as a prince could be,
Second born with no chance at the crown,
In his heart was a tear, on his face, a frown,
"I'm of no importance, nobody needs me!"
He cried day and night and at afternoon tea,
He was not very kind, a poor loser, a brat,
What do you do with a veggie like that?
"I'm afraid he will spoil!" his mother lamented,
"He's soft, my poor wife" his father commented,
In fact the whole kingdom was at the end of its rope,
On prince Salvatore celery they'd given up hope,
But a blessing in disguise arrived at their gate,
A call for help from a neighboring state,
It seems a bad burger with rotten intentions,
Had infiltrated Fruitlotta under false pretenses,
Disguised as a jester he entered their land,
and took over the castle, crown jewel's in hand,
The pink stone of fruitlotta, a handsome prize,
Was being held by Wopper and an army of fries,
The kingdom ransacked, the royal family cried,
And sent a message to Ruffage via spy,
"Oh help us, oh help us" their letter it pleaded,
"Your assistance right now is so direly needed!
We are under attack by a villain, a fiend,
Wopper's his name, he's quite evil it seems,
He's holding us prisoner, we've nowhere to turn,
We know you'll help us, our kindgdom return!"
The king called out for his son, Salvatore,
Who shuffled into the room and slumped by the door,
*
"My son, you see Fruitlotta's in need,
A dastardly burger has done a foul deed,
I'm sending you there to put these things right,
To help out the fruits, to fend and to fight,
Although there's been differences, I feel it's rude,
To shirk at the chance to help fellow food,
As a companion you'll take the formidable fighter,
Peggy the strong, our meanest bus driver!
She strikes fear into foods all over the place,
She'll scatter those fries and smash Woppers face!"
*
Now Prince Salvatore celery did not want this trip,
He even threatened his father with dip,
But the king was convinced, he could not be dissuaded,
No matter how Salvatore cried and persuaded,
And so the next day with his bags in a cart,
Peggy and Salvatore on the quest did start,
The journey was long, uncomfortable and hot,
A lively companion, Peggy was not,
They arrived in Fruitlotta to a ghastly sight,
Their village was cooking, the castle a fright,
They set in quickly for the reason they came,
With slicing and dicing they put Wopper to shame,
Peggy the strong dived into the fries,
She punched and pummelled and poked out their eyes,
All that day Salvatore fought by her side,
From Salvatore's ketchup there was nowhere to hide,
At last they did reach the castles big door,
They entered the place and searched the ground floor,
But where was Wopper, that villain, that foe,
And where did the royal fruit family go?
Alas they did find them in the west tower top,
Peggy chased Wopper but he didn't stop,
He ran from that place, the spoiled meet guy,
He got away clean, he was quick, he was sly,
But Fruitlotta was safe the fruits cheered with joy,
Salvatore and Peggy had foiled Woppers ploy
*
As the young Prince untied the young Princesses ropes
he looked into her eyes and his heart filled with hope,
For here he did see in most unlikely of places,
A chance at true love in all of its faces,
Princess Monique red pumelo saw it there too,
But what were these two young munchies to do?
Although this chance meeting threw them through loops,
There was no room for marriage between different food groups,
They talked with their parents, they begged and debated,
Was there really a reason mixed marriages were hated?
Hadn't Salvatore proved he was worthy!
Argued Monique, "the jewell he returned thee!"
*
Now Monique red pumelo was a fruit of good standing,
She was complacent and calm and never demanding,
But she knew that for love she must break the rules,
She was willing to sacrifice her riches and jewels,
So the fruit and the vegetable ran off together,
To a land of freedom and took vows of forever,
And into old age they lived happily there,
And had red celery children which are really quite rare,
The familys mourned they saw their mistake,
But for the childrens forgiveness it was much too late,
This is what happened in a land by the sea,
And how this story here came to be,
"The moral?" you ask "please do recall."
The moral, I tell you, is love conquers all.
The end
