big update!
things that have happened in the last month and however many days...
The House Theatre of Chicago closed Valentine Victorious! to adoring crowds. Standing Room Only. Very crowded theatre.
The closing night party was at my house where I met a very lovely lady named Carol who I have been dating for about a month now. She's a classy southern girl who will only accept some of my chivalry. We do crossword puzzles and eat food that is made from scratch.
The Variety Revival has officially been "postponed." I am not happy about this. Long story short -- James (one of the hosts) got cast in a national traveling promo gig. It pays lots of money and is good for his career. I am very happy for him.
But as a result, 3 of the cast members refused to be at any of the performances that James would be absent for. They wouldn't even perform with an understudy. Meaning they would only perform 2 shows. I decided that it would be better if we just postponed it until a later date.
What pisses me off is that I had about 30 other people involved in this project and because of these 3 people, everything that everyone had worked for has been for naught. All the time and energy and money spent has been wasted. I have a box of 5000 postcards sitting in my living room that are doing me no good.
On the bright side I now have a lot more free time and I will be taking more classes at Old Town School of Folk Music next month. I'm either taking Mountain Dulcimer or Clawhammer Banjo...depending on which ebay auction I win for an instrument.
I will also be able to sit down and continue writing Jehanne The Maid -- my play about Joan of Arc.
Also coming up soon:
Full Frontal BBQ -- All Amateur Grills
I'm buying a new BBQ grill today. Then in a couple weeks, copious amounts of meat will be grilled to perfection in my backyard.
peace, bitches
