What are people so afraid of? Gay people are already living together as married couples. Do you not want us to wear the dress, is that it? Because we have been having commitment ceremonies for ages now. Is it the rings? We wear those too. Then it must be the fact that the definition of family would change. A couple of women couldn't possibly be able to raise healthy, well adjusted children. Oh wait, were doing that already too. A friend of the family was recently debating with me that same sex marriage is against God. It seems to be very hard for some Christians to wrap their brains around the fact that not everyones God is discrimintating and prejudice. She said that she has nothing against gay people personally but that if gays were given equal marriage rights it would be spitting in the face of "traditional" marriage. So basicaly what she's saying is that it's OK for us to be queer as long as we don't ask for equality. Does this sound like "seperate but equal" to you, or is it just me? It actually made her so upset she was crying thinking about the fact that a loving, committed, same sex couple would be able to have tax relief, health benefits, social security benefits, and all of the other benefits that are now only available to opposite sex married couples. I don't understand why hetero couples are so upset by the fact that homo's want to get married. We already are married in every sense of the word except in the legal definition. We are living together, raising children, leading very ordinary lives. What's so threating about that?
