once upon a rhyme there was a purple sock monkey named honkey. he was teased by all the other monkeys because he was made out of cotton and had buttons for eyes and no mouth to eat the bananananas. one day, while all the other monkeys were flinging poo, honkey decided to go for a walk. he walked and he walked and saw many great things. he saw a flower named moo and sang it a song. he saw...
hmmm. i've confused myself. lets try again.
once upon a time their was a giant elephant named monkey. monkey was SOOOO big that whereever she went, she crushed everything in her path. this made monkey verrrrry sad and so she never went anywhere because she didn't want to crush any of the pretty flowers or risk hurting any bugs or other little funny creatures she could barely see (because in addition to being SOOOOO big, monkey was also verrrry near sighted).
one day, a little monkey named honkey who was exploring the jungle ran right smack into her butt. and monkey jumped up, her trunk all asunder, and eeeeked a mouse a mouse! but honkey was quick to reasure her, no! i'm no mousey! i'm a sock monkey! and monkey let out a big sigh of relief, for mouseys really scared her but sock monkeys were rather harmless, unless they got shoved down your throat and suffocation ensued.
so it was that a great friendship ensued. sometimes, monkey would even wear honkey on her trunk and swing him around. all was well. then one day, monkey couldn't find honkey, and she became very, very sad. honkey! honkey! she cried, and her voice was heard throughout the jungle. and one by one, little (compared to her) animals came by to tell her they had not seen honkey the sock monkey anywhere. days passed, and she continued to cry out honkey! honkey! and the animals came from miles around to tell her that no, they hadn't seen honkey.
then, finally, she heard a little voice eek, but the voice was so tiny she could barely hear it. so she leaned closer and asked the little creature to repeat itself, which it did. but again, she couldn't hear. so she leaned even closer... and she leaned soooooo close that before she knew it, she was close enough to see the little creature despite her bad eyesight. and lo and behold, it was a mousey mouse! and monkey screeeeeaaaaammmmed and jumped ten feet in the air, which is quite a feat for a bazillion ton elephant. and when she landed, she was lucky that nothing was hurt, because all the other animals had scampered away to saftety. and just then she heard a voice.... a voice she recognized... it was honkey! he was pretty dirty, because monkey had been sitting on him for days, but otherwise unhurt! and they lived happily ever after.
morale of the story: sometimes it's really good to have sock monkeys as friends because they don't need food or air.
