Diary of a drug f(r)iend.
Caffeine
The sweet dark goddess.
Derived from the Arabic work from strength (really strong coffee used to be drunk pre-battle for that top-flight psycho effect) coffee has been the backbone of my life for many many years.
I need to detox, get the juice out of my system so that when I flood it again I'll get the hit I remember, that sweet bouncing off the walls feeling, mmmmmmmmm... as tensile pointed out the other night 'coffee's great, you can get ripped out of yer face at work...' I paraphrase badly but that's the jist.
Its 11 am on Wednesday and I haven't touched a drop since Saturday about mid-day. I'll admit to having had a fair bit of tea (but there's fuck all of the good stuff in that shit anyway).
Still alive. Still awake. And still calm, despite the fucked-up situation at work (see previous).

Ah stress at work. In engineering and F1 its constent 8 hour leadtimes and neverending hassle. Caffeine makes it so much easier to deal with, but mucho respecto to quitting the bleeder cos I could not manage
Useless information: A fair amount of arabic words and terms have infiltrated the english language over the years; Admiral, for example, derives from emir of the sea. Oh lets be honest the english were the biggest bunch of pirates in history and stole not only continents, countries and natural resources, but languages too.
the first gold coins minted in Britain bore the legend 'there is no God but Allah'. During the reign of King Offa of Mercia (also big on dykes i'm told). 8th C i fink.
