So then. George A. Romero's Land of the Dead. Up there in the top ten worst films I have ever seen. I saw a private sneak preview screening the Wednesday before it came out. I was super stoked. And completely let down.
The wrong scares, the wrong rules broken, the wrong ones followed. Even breaking the rules of his own created world, a sin only the most amateur filmmaker should commit. Nothing clever, nothing subtle, nothing remotely relevant to anything.
Some people have told me that Romero is just after the money. I disagree. I think he legitimately wanted to make a zombie masterpiece and revive horror in this era where nobody seems to be able to. He just failed. A horrible, horrible failure.
