black ink crosshatching

First time back to Aikido since Christmas. Ow.
You lose a lot very fast with a month off. I gave a bit of an explanation for why I haven't been to class but my Sensei didn't really care. As he said, "Its your loss." He did however care that I didn't have a Gi. I told him the half truth on that one, that I didn't know where to get one. Rather than the other half of it, that I can't afford to buy one. He laughed and said I should ask one of the other students, who all have gis now. One of them said that the UBC Rec Store has them which suprised everyone because there are none in stock. Apperantly they can order them so that is what I will be doing. Now comes the fun part, finding money. "Hello.. mom?"
Still I am happy to be back to it. Walking back from Aikido is like having your mental windows wiped clean. I love it.
Also I watched The Chronicles of Riddick, I haven't decided if it is a good movie yet. As an action movie it's great. It's fast and vicious (how many of you were expecting furious?) and visually stunning. However, the various people who have suggested this movie to me have told me that there is much more to it. Kind of like how the Matrix was supposed to be more than an action movie. As long as you don't expect acting from Vin Diesel it seems to provide that too. Think of Riddick less of as a character and more as a force of nature. Like the Warrior that has beaten death by becoming death or like Batman pure ruthless effectiveness. More of an Instinctual effectiveness than Batman's Rational effectiveness. I was lead to expect Lord of the Rings or the Matrix or even Star Wars. What I found however.. Is Conan. Riddick is Conan.
