There are so many different stories behind the hand of hamsa/fatima. This one is my favorite.
Fatima’s hand was actually a severed nub she carried in a handbag given to her by the likeness of the devil…after, of course, he chopped it off then made love to her when she went to retrieve it in hell. Falling in love with her, he placed his third eye in her severed hand, magically gave her a new one and told her the old hand would be her light in the
dark; protect against evil.
This story shows that love concurs all. Even the devil.
