i woke up feeling sinusy yesterday- can't breathe, headache- and was really thinking about skipping my staff xmas party last night. but i went, and after a few beers i felt muuuuuch better....
well now its saturday and i'm waking up feeling poopy again.
for anyone else who has chronic sinus problems/allergies, i recommend a neti pot (to clean out the sinuses by pouring a saline solution into your nostrils). it sounds gross and weird, but it really works. my allergist encouraged me to get one, and i was like but, he was totally right.
so anyway, the staff party was pleasant. nothing raucous- it was at my boss' house. i learned at last year's party, my first one, that i am the only staff member who smokes cigarettes, and the only staff member who drinks (i mean more than a glass of chardonnay or two.) so i try to limit my alcohol intake at these work functions cuz, the more that i drink, the more i talk. i sorta wear a different face at work- i kinda have to, i work with children! but i'm very aware of what kind of information about myself that i don't want to indulge to coworkers.
although, they seem to have a pretty good idea. for instance, yesterday in the staff room when i said that i went to catholic school for a year, someone replied "YOU? you were probably burning all the crosses!" i responded by making devil horns on both hands.
