Random fun night for a Monday. I got to meet some of my online friends for the first time. Not SG members-- people from a different site that I frequent. I've talked to some of these people for five-six years now, but I'd only met two of them in person-- once each. I got to meet four new peeps from that site tonight, as well as two of Robyn's cool co-workers. My friend Eric also came down and met us-- when I called him he was already riding his bike down to another bar because he had a fight with his GF. Talk about good timing.
We had one of the bar's two open-air patio rooms to ourselves, which was probably a good thing. We were rowdy as hell for a Monday. A couple of the ladies were gettin' downright obnoxious. Good times. I've gotten to hang out with online friends IRL a few times now, and that first meeting is always kinda weird-- you feel like you know them, and you've never even seen their face before in some instances. It can be a little surreal. A liberal lubrication of alcohol always helps, though. I should get to hang with most of these folks again in November or December, as a group is coming out for a football game. Definitely looking forward to it. I missed the gathering last year, and they're still talking about it. I've been hearing stories about midget strippers and epic partying for the better part of a year now. . . and judging from the two times I've hung out with Robyn, I believe all of it. Girl is a whisky-drinking animal. There is no way in hell I'm missing it this year. Taking a taxi will definitely be in order. Can't wait. Cool new friends always = fuck yea!
This makes me laugh. Looks like I killed something, but the barbeque was long-since dead. . .
My pickling cucumbers are starting to mature. I'm looking forward to making homemade pickles for the first time-- I even have garlic and dill in the garden. I think I'm going to make some sauerkraut as well. My friend Una used to make sauerkraut, and that stuff was the best eva. I'm hoping I can duplicate it. Fermentation is a fascinating process-- real cycle of life type stuff goin' on there. I like visceral things, things I can really get my hands on.

I started in burlesque in 2008, helping Salome out with her acts. Then in January of 2009 I made my solo burlesque debut. I started my maternity leave when I was 3 months pregnant with my second baby, and got back on the stage 3 months after having given birth. That amounted to a 9 month hiatus, during which time I went to shows and kept dreaming up new acts. The very first solo act I performed was to Weird Al's "White and Nerdy" and the act I'm performing at this week's show is "Feelin' Good" (a very traditional song for burlesque). You might say I'm versatile!
